Challenges Faced by Employers Today
Jun 6, 2022
As the economy began to restart in full force over a month ago, the demand for manpower from non-skill, skill to professional has been increased to 3 folds or more. Searching for the right candidate with the right salary expected has been a challenged. Many companies are focusing on rebuilding their business, hence finances have been really challenging. But at the same time they need the right people to join their team to help them with that. But many are also afraid of the empty promises made by the candidates, that they are able to execute what they say and in the end finding out that it was just mere words with no action. To avoid this, employers rather offer contracts instead of permanent roles and a lower salary until the candidate is proven worthy.
Candidates on the other hand have demanded a high increment on their expected salary, justifying that their previous company didn't give them a raise for two years. Hence, they have been asking the new employers an increment of of 30-50%. They have got nothing to lose as they know currently it's employees' market and they can afford to say no to a job and easily find another one tomorrow.
Being a recruiter we hear from both sides, the employer and employee. Both have their own points and justifying their actions. At the end of the day, we have the same goal. To rebuild the economy so that both parties are able to sustain for their business and income. My advice on all this is, meet each other half way. Don't kill the business when they are rebooting and don't short change the candidates what they deserve.

APU Mega Career Fair 2019
15th of May 2019
Last May, Unitalent was invited to participate in the APU Mega Career Fair. Many other companies were invited
too(approximately 100+ companies), so it was a very busy career fair. As it was a university, we had the opportunity to meet many fresh graduates and graduating students, many of whom applied for the recent IT Programmer Job Vacancy in Japan.
“The purpose of this career fair is to help students grasp an idea of what the working world is like, by connecting and speaking to employers”, states Mark Darren, Career Service Lead of APU. Students of APU also participated by volunteering for the organizing committee of the career fair as part of their internship. Overall, it was a very well planned career fair where employers and graduates were able to meet and discuss.
Fresh Graduates - Here Some Tips For YOU
Jun 8, 2019
As you start your journey in the working life, get used to it fast, well, in other words adapt with the change. Life as a student has ended and it's time to embrace the 'reality of life'. The faster you adapt, the faster you are ahead of the pack.
Many would be looking for the best job with the best title and the best salary due to peer pressure, wanting to be the best among your friends. Often they forget what they really want or what they should do. To be the best, you must first know learn the ropes of the job. Once you have a good foundation, you will make it anywhere. Remember that as a stepping stone, look for a company that you could offer you something you could learn from not the best paying companies, though that may sound really tempting.
We have been meeting with many employers, from SMEs to MNCs in the course of our recruitment exercise as well as during career fairs. We always wanted to know what employers are looking for when looking for their right candidate to fit in their organization. Well, every employer will have their own criteria based on their industry as well as the role that they have. But they do have one thing in common that goes across every industry.
Here are the things that they want from you:
1. They want the employees who have the initiative to start something without being told.
2. Productive employees that could deliver their KPIs within the set time-frame.
3. Employees with fresh ideas that could help the organization to do things differently with the results they want.
4. Employees who value time management and could work under pressure.
5. Someone who respects the work culture of the organization, especially when there are many different generations (Baby Boomers, X, Y) of employees that you need to deal with.
That's basically sums up what most employers look for. Be the difference and show them what you got!

University Malaysia Terengganu recently organized a career fair for employers to explore their graduates and for those who wants to have a work opportunity in Terengganu and out of Terengganu. A university campus just next to the South China Sea, it's a wonderful place for students to spend their 4 years of study there. With the collaboration with Jabatan Tenaga Kerja (JTK) Terengganu, we manage to interview a number of potential candidates, hoping to place them with the right employer.
