Lecturer (PhD) – Quantity Surveying Construction Management

- Pursuit of innovation and excellence in teaching.
- Ongoing development of curriculum and instructional material for different programs and levels.
- Convene unit of studies and conduct learning and teaching activities including lectures, tutorials (or laboratories), and assessment of students’ learning to ensure a high standard of quality in the learning and teaching process.
- Provision of consultation and mentoring to students.
- Continuous development of teaching, training, and mentoring expertise.
- Design and delivery of training sessions for executive participants in management development programs.
- Expansion and development of the various learning and teaching activities of the Faculty.
- Subject to operational needs, teaching hours may be scheduled beyond office hours including weekends.
- Undertaking of learning and teaching activities and achievement of associated impact expected at the appointed Academic Level B) as outlined in the “Guidelines for Expectations by Academic Levels” document.

- This position search includes relevant sub-areas of Quantity Surveying, preferably in measurements and have a strong background in cost control and cost planning.
- Successful candidates will be expected to convene and teach undergraduate units of study in the School of Engineering and Science in academic disciplines related to Quantity Surveying and Construction Management and their research expertise.
- In addition, the ability to teach a wide range of Quantity Surveying areas including Construction Technology, Measurements, Professional Practice, and Construction-related software and technology will be an added advantage.
- The successful candidate(s) shall provide leadership in teaching, both traditional and non-traditional research as well as external engagement for Quantity Surveying and the university as a whole.
- Maintenance of high academic and professional standards in all areas ofactivity.
- Administration and development of the learning programs offered by the Faculty.
- Administration and development of the various educational policies and management systems within the Faculty and the University.
- Development of a vibrant academic community within the Faculty based on openness, collaboration, and experimentation.
- Professional engagement with business and industry, in fields relevant to the Faculty.
- Leadership in academic and professional activities relevant to the Faculty.
- Leadership in community affairs, particularly those related to the academic areas relevant to the Faculty.

- PhD in Quantity Surveying; Construction Management; Civil Engineering; or related discipline.
- A Professional Quantity Surveying (PQS) or Consultant Quantity Surveying (CQS) candidate will be an added advantage.
- Proven track record of substantial research output and significant impact.
- Proven expertise and significant professional experience in Quantity Surveying.
- Proficiency in using industry-relevant software and technology will be an added advantage.
- Experience in teaching or training in higher education in a relevant discipline.
- Active involvement in professional organizations or societies related to Quantity Surveying is desirable.
- Undergraduate degree and/or equivalent qualifications and/or professional experience in a relevant field from a reputed institution. In many cases an honours degree or a three-year degree with postgraduate diploma level.
- Professional qualification in a relevant field or those progressing towards the qualification (if applicable).
- Registration with relevant professional body (if applicable).
- Master’s degree (preferably by research) / Doctoral degree (preferably by research) in a relevant field from a reputed institution.
- Excellent academic results from pre-university level onwards.
- Knowledge in relevant sub-areas or specialist areas.
- Research track record.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
